Resembling a fallen tree, the vigilius mountain resort nestles quietly into the surrounding landscape with its larch woods; and provides a view of the unique mountain scenery of the Dolomites – unobtrusive architecture, wherein comfort and design blend naturally with each other.
"Eco, not ego", dedicated to nature – according to the motto of architect Matteo Thun. On the exterior as well as in the interior, the design is characterized through the use of materials from renewable resources. The highly efficient insulation, the wood chip heating system, as well as the economical use of the precious Vigiljoch spring water, further expand upon the ecologic concept.
The vigilius mountain resort has already been elected as the “best design hotel” for the second time by the renowned German travel magazine, Geo Saison. Moreover, it has been awarded several prizes for sustainable tourism with an ecological based concept: in 2005, Panda d’Oro, the Italian WWF association, awarded the five-star design hotel vigilius the special prize "Amici del clima". The same year, it became Italy’s first and, at that time, only hotel to be classified as "Climate House A". In 2006, the vigilius mountain resort was awarded the renowned environmental prize "Premio all'innovazione amica dell’ambiente" by the Italian environmental association n. 1, "Legambiente". In 2009, Eco Hotels of the World honoured it with five green stars.
